Skinman Soft N contains 76% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol and 0.13% w/v Benzalkonium Chloride in a water clear solution.
Skinman Soft N is registered with the TGA for use as both a pre-surgical hand rub and hygenic hand rub.
Skinman Soft N is registered in the ARTG, AUST R 179681 as a surgical rub with a 3 minute application. Only well designed alcohol based products achieve the superior performance threshold required by EN 12791 which ensures the highest efficacy first time every time, compared with the cumulative efficacy model used by FDA.
A 3 minute scrub with Skinman Soft N complies with the requirements of EN 12791.
Skinman Soft N complies with the requirements of EN1500 for use as a hygenic hand antiseptic following a 30 second application.
Rapid kill and superior efficacy – Alcohol products demonstrate superior efficacy compared with aqueous products when assessed for both immediate and sustained effect after 3 hours. Current WHO and ACORN guidelines recommend the use of alcohol based formulations for pre-operative and surgical hand preparation given their superior antimicrobial efficacy.
Reduced application time – Alcohol rubs are able to achieve higher efficacy within a shorter timeframe enabling reduced application times. In addition no rinsing with water is required, nor is drying of hands post application with paper towel, as the alcohol dries.
Improved skin compatibility – Alcohol preparations have clearly demonstrated superior skin compatibility. Aqueous based (Povidone-Iodine and Chlorhexidine) solutions are known to be associated with irritation.
Skinman Soft N supports environmental management initiatives: eliminating the need for scrubbing brushes, rinsing with water or drying hands post application with sterile towel as the alcohol air dries.

Directions For Use

Surgical Hand Disinfection

Prior to the pre-surgical rub, wash hands, forearms and nails including subungual areas using a non-medicated soap and running water
Subungual areas can be cleaned using a nail pick or brush
All skin surfaces are to be thoroughly dried prior to commencing antiseptic rub
Surgial hand disinfection contact time is 3 minutes
Surgical hand disinfection is achieved by rubbing as many portions of approximately 5 mL of undiluted product into both hands as is necessary to keep them wet for 3 minutes
At completion allow hands to completely air dry thoroughly before donning sterile gloves
